CINCINNATI (OH)–Foster Brown Todd, a national law firm, and AlvaradoSmith, based in California, have announced their plans to merge. FBT’s core practice areas and industry teams will be enhanced by the combination, which will also expand FBT’s geographic reach to California’s key legal markets. AlvaradoSmith, an established minority-owned law firm, has the opportunity to expand its reach and offer more services to its clients.
AlvaradoSmith’s 23 attorneys will be added to the firm, giving it more than 575 lawyers in 17 offices throughout nine states and Washington D.C. The firm will continue to operate in California under the name Frost Brown Todd AlvaradoSmith until 2023, when it will fully absorb the FBT brand. This combination will bring offices to FBT’s national network in Los Angeles, Orange County and San Francisco. It takes effect on January 1, 2023.
AlvaradoSmith boasts first-rate practice groups for business litigation, employment, government services, and energy. These will enhance and complement FBT’s offerings to California, especially in the renewables and energy sectors. Frost Brown Todd’s Latin America practice is further enhanced by AlvaradoSmith’s extensive experience in serving clients from several Latin American countries. Smith and Salinas will serve as co-chairs of FBT’s Latin America desk, which provides a gateway to additional international work.
The combined firm will provide strong regional and national practices, especially in energy and renewables technology, manufacturing, mobility, infrastructure and public/private partnerships.
