Trump is among 19 people accused of conspiring to change the outcome of the 2020 presidential elections. He faces 13 felony counts, including racketeering. The charges stem from allegedly pressing Georgia election officials to alter the results of that state’s vote.

Former President Trump has denied any wrongdoing and has called the case politically motivated. In a 31 August document, he asked a court to separate his case with his co-defendants who want a speedy trial. Steven Sadow, Trump’s attorney, said that he wouldn’t have “sufficient time”to get ready for trial before 23 October.

The document signed stated: “Understanding my Rights, I freely and voluntarily waive the right to be present during my arraignment regarding the indictment as well as my right to hear it read in court.”

Trump turned himself in to the Fulton County Jail and agreed to other conditions of release, such as not using social media against co-defendants or witnesses.
