Elissa Cadish, Associate Justice of the Nevada Supreme Court, and Co-Chairperson of the Access to Justice Commission filed on August 3, 2023 a petition to amend Supreme Court Rule 49.5 to allow law school graduates, who haven’t yet passed the Nevada Bar Examination, to practice law for a limited period of time under the supervision organized legal service programs while they attempt to pass the Nevada bar exam. On October 2, 2023, a public hearing on this matter was held. The Court issued a decision on October 19, 2023 in AdKT 0611 adopting SCR 48.5, as stated in exhibit A. The rule change will take effect 30 days after the date of this Order.
