SOUTH BEND (IN)–Barnes & Thornburg announced that Jason Schultz has been named a partner in its Healthcare Department. Schultz brings over 15 years of experience in private and in-house practice. He will be based at the South Bend office.
After almost 12 years experience in a multi-hospital system’s general counsel role, Schultz joined Barnes & Thornburg as vice president of strategy & business development. His tenure included legal and compliance advice for three hospitals campuses, 26 physician offices, urgent care, three long term care facilities, a home-health entity and ownership interests in multiple healthcare organizations.
Schultz’s practice focuses on the advice of healthcare clients in all regions and on complex statutes and regulations. He advises healthcare organizations on strategic affiliations, transactions, government investigations and physician employment. He is passionate about helping providers adopt new technologies like telehealth, remote patient monitoring, and telehealth.
Schultz is an experienced counselor for clients in transactions, hospital joint ventures and Anti-Kickback/Stark Law violations, Accountable Car Organizations, medical staff issues, provider-based decisions, audits and HIPAA. He also managed government relations for the system and worked with state and federal officials to lobby and advocate for various initiatives.
Schultz received his J.D. Washington University School of Law. Schultz also received his B.S. with highest honors from the University of Illinois at UrbanaChampaign.
