The community has rallied around her family during this incredibly challenging time, hoping for a different outcome.
Assistant Chief Constable Wayne Fox of North Yorkshire Police shared that underwater search teams located the body in the River Derwent, close to the area where some of Ms. Taylor’s personal belongings had previously been found. While formal identification is still pending, Ms. Taylor’s family has been informed of this development.
“It’s with great sorrow that I convey this news. While this outcome is not what anyone hoped for, Victoria’s family has asked me to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported North Yorkshire Police and other emergency services in the search,” Assistant Chief Constable Fox stated. He acknowledged the immense heartache the family has faced since her disappearance and expressed appreciation for the community’s overwhelming support during this difficult time.
On the day she went missing, Ms. Taylor was captured on CCTV heading towards a play park near the river, after having stopped at a BP garage to purchase several items. She was reported missing on October 1, prompting a large-scale search that engaged both law enforcement and community members.
As the community processes this tragic news, our thoughts are with Victoria Taylor’s family and friends during this profoundly difficult period.
