Latham & Watkins Advises Evertec on Acquisition of GranData.

Latham & Watkins LLP has provided legal counsel to EVERTEC, Inc. in its successful acquisition of GranData, a leading data analytics firm based in Mexico.

EVERTEC, a prominent full-service transaction processor and financial technology provider with a strong presence in Latin America, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean, has expanded its capabilities by acquiring GranData. The firm specializes in using behavioral data to deliver credit risk insights, particularly targeting underbanked populations.

The Latham team was led by New York partners Eli Curi and Tony Del Pino, with support from associates Andres Medina-Jordan, Jordan Wampler, and María del Pilar Villanueva. New York partner Eric Kamerman provided tax guidance, ensuring that the transaction was structured in the most tax-efficient manner.

On intellectual property matters, New York partner Jenny Cieplak, along with associates Zachary Shufro and Alan Kim, advised EVERTEC on the protection and integration of GranData’s valuable intellectual property assets. Houston/Austin counsel Robert Brown, supported by associates Zac Alpert and Alex Theuer, addressed critical data privacy concerns, ensuring that the acquisition complied with applicable data protection laws.

Additionally, New York counsel Rifka Singer, with associate Dana Yeliseyev, provided valuable insights into employee benefits and compensation matters related to the acquisition.
