Jay-Z accused in a lawsuit of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000 along with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

Jay-Z, 55, the renowned rapper and businessman known as Shawn Carter, has been named in a lawsuit filed on Sunday, which alleges that he, along with Sean “Diddy” Combs, 55, raped a 13-year-old girl in 2000.

The allegations were brought forward by a woman known as Jane Doe, who initially filed the lawsuit in October, naming P. Diddy as the sole defendant. An amended complaint, filed on December 8, added Jay-Z to the case. The lawsuit details a disturbing account, accusing both men of assaulting the minor at a New York City residence during an after-party. The individual making the allegations, referred to as “Jane Doe,” claims that the incident occurred following her transportation to an after-party for the MTV Video Music Awards.

Initially filed in October in the Southern District of New York, the federal lawsuit originally included Combs as a defendant. It was refiled on Sunday to add Carter to the case.

Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee, who initiated the lawsuit, refrained from making any comments.

Carter described the allegations as “idiotic” in an extensive statement released on Sunday evening, asserting that Buzbee was exhibiting unprofessional conduct.

“These allegations are so egregious that I urge you to pursue a criminal complaint rather than a civil one! Anyone who would perpetrate such a crime against a minor deserves to be incarcerated, would you not concur?” Carter stated. “If these alleged victims were to seek justice, it should be of a serious nature.”

Buzbee has recently filed multiple lawsuits, all of which have kept the identities of the complainants confidential, accusing Combs of assault and rape. This marks the first lawsuit in which he has identified another prominent defendant.

In a statement, Combs’ legal representatives characterized the lawsuits as “shameless publicity stunts aimed at extracting financial settlements from celebrities who are concerned about falsehoods being disseminated, similar to the untruths that have been directed at Mr. Combs.”

“As previously stated by his legal team, Mr. Combs possesses complete confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial system. In court, the truth will emerge: that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—be it man or woman, adult or minor,” the statement asserted.

In September, federal prosecutors in New York charged Combs with racketeering, sex trafficking, and other crimes. He is currently incarcerated at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center after being denied bail for the third time last month. His trial is set to commence on May 5.

Prosecutors indicated during a court session last month that they are considering the possibility of filing additional charges against Combs through a superseding indictment.

Prior to the re-filing of the lawsuit on Sunday, Buzbee noted in the suit that “Carter received a letter from Plaintiff’s counsel requesting mediation to resolve this matter.” In reaction to this correspondence, Carter initiated his own legal action against the attorneys representing the accuser, as stated by Buzbee.

Carter expressed in his statement on Sunday, “You have made a grave misjudgment in assuming that all ‘celebrities’ are alike. I do not belong to your realm. I am a young man who has emerged from the projects of Brooklyn. We do not engage in such games. We adhere to strict codes and principles. We safeguard children.”

The lawsuit alleges that in 2000, when Doe was 13 years old, Combs and Carter sexually assaulted her at a house party following the MTV Video Music Awards in New York.

The legal complaint states that a friend dropped her off at the VMAs held at Radio City Music Hall. Lacking a ticket, she approached several limousine drivers in an attempt to gain entry to the event or an after-party.

According to the lawsuit, one driver informed her that he was employed by Combs and remarked that she “fit what Diddy was looking for.” He extended an invitation to a party following the show and instructed her to return to his vehicle later that evening after he had transported Carter and Combs.

Subsequently, the driver picked her up, and after a 20-minute journey, they arrived at a residence featuring a U-shaped driveway, as detailed in the lawsuit. Upon arrival, she was required to sign a document she believed to be a nondisclosure agreement, without receiving a copy, in order to gain access to the party, which the lawsuit claims was populated by celebrities and individuals using marijuana and cocaine.

A beverage was presented to her, which caused her to feel “woozy, lightheaded, and as if she needed to lie down,” according to the lawsuit. Consequently, she entered a room to rest.

Shortly thereafter, the lawsuit states, Combs and Carter entered the room, with Combs exclaiming, “You are ready to party!”

It is at this point that she claims Carter stripped her of her clothing, restrained her, and raped her while Combs and an unidentified female celebrity observed. She further alleges that Combs also raped her while Carter and the woman looked on.

The lawsuit indicates that she managed to resist being compelled to perform oral sex on Combs by striking him in the neck, which caused him to “stop.”

Following the alleged assault, the lawsuit states that she “grabbed her clothes” and departed. She then proceeded to a gas station, where she contacted her father, as noted in the suit.

The plaintiff is pursuing unspecified damages. The lawsuit has been filed under New York’s Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act.

“My only heartbreak is for my family. My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people. I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at their young age. It is unfair to have to try to understand inexplicable degrees of malice meant to destroy families and human spirit.

“You have made a terrible error in judgment thinking that all ‘celebrities’ are the same. I’m not from your world. I’m a young man who made it out of the projects of Brooklyn. We don’t play these types of games. We have very strict codes and honor. We protect children; you seem to exploit people for personal gain.” Jay-Z ended his statement with a strong resolve, vowing to vigorously contest the allegations.

“I look forward to demonstrating just how different I am.” he declared.

Music Collaborations P Diddy and Jay-Z

Their music collaborations have left a lasting mark on the genre, showcasing their shared influence on the hip-hop scene. Despite occasional rivalry throughout their careers, P Diddy and Jay-Z have teamed up on several tracks, demonstrating their powerful impact on the music industry. Here are some of the standout collaborations between the two:

1. “I Need a Girl (Part 1)” (2002)

One of their more notable collaborations was on the remix of P Diddy’s hit single “I Need a Girl (Part 1)”. Jay-Z contributed a verse to the track, which was part of the album The Saga Continues…. The song features P Diddy alongside other guest artists, and Jay-Z’s verse was widely appreciated for adding a more polished, lyrical element to the track. This collaboration helped cement their position as two of the top artists in hip-hop at the time.

2. “Victory” (1998)

“Victory” is one of the most iconic tracks that features both P Diddy and Jay-Z. The song appears on Puff Daddy & The Family’s album No Way Out (1997) and was released as a single in 1998. Jay-Z’s involvement in the track came at a time when he was beginning to establish himself as one of the biggest names in rap. The song is a memorable anthem of triumph and success, with Jay-Z’s verse adding to the song’s powerful energy. The track also features a posthumous verse from The Notorious B.I.G., making it a standout moment in hip-hop history.

3. “Bad Boy 4 Life” (Remix) (2003)

While not as high-profile as “Victory,” Jay-Z appeared on the remix of “Bad Boy 4 Life,” which was a hit for P Diddy and his Bad Boy Records label. The song became one of Diddy’s signature tracks, and Jay-Z’s guest verse contributed to the track’s appeal. In this collaboration, Jay-Z’s delivery and lyrics added a distinct style to the remix, reinforcing the alliance between the two moguls in the early 2000s.

4. “Freeway” (2001)

Although not one of their major hits, Jay-Z worked closely with Freeway, an artist signed to Roc-A-Fella Records, who released his debut album Philadelphia Freeway in 2003. P Diddy had an indirect involvement as well, since Roc-A-Fella and Bad Boy were both prominent forces in the music industry at the time. While Jay-Z’s direct contributions to Freeway’s project are more notable, Diddy’s influence through his production network also played a role in shaping the sound of this era.

5. “The Roc Boys (And the Winner Is…)” (2007)

Although this is primarily a Jay-Z track from his album American Gangster (2007), it represents a moment in hip-hop when Jay-Z and Diddy were operating in similar spheres. While P Diddy did not contribute directly to the song, there is a clear influence from the lavish lifestyles and themes of success that both artists were known for. The collaboration between these two music moguls extended far beyond music, with both playing crucial roles in shaping hip-hop culture, and this track reflects the influence each had on the other’s style.

6. “Young G’s” (1999)

“Young G’s” was released as a track on Jay-Z’s Vol. 3… Life and Times of S. Carter (1999). While P Diddy wasn’t featured on the track, the song represents an interesting time in both their careers. The song included Jay-Z rapping about success, power, and the lavish life — all themes that P Diddy had made central to his own brand. The success of this track, along with others in Jay-Z’s catalog, influenced Diddy’s future musical and business decisions.
