Lawsuit Filed Against Tristan and Andrew Tate Over Alleged Sex Trafficking and Defamation.
A woman in the United States has filed a lawsuit accusing Tristan, 36 and Andrew Tate, 38, of conspiring to force her into sex work, luring her to Romania, and defaming her after she reported her experiences to Romanian authorities. The civil complaint, filed in Florida, marks the first lawsuit against the Tate brothers in the U.S.
The Tate brothers, who are currently involved in serious civil and criminal cases in Romania and the UK, face allegations including forming an organized crime group, human trafficking, trafficking minors, sexual acts with a minor, and money laundering. They have denied all charges.
In the court documents, the woman, referred to as Jane Doe, claims that the brothers harassed and intimidated her through a defamation lawsuit filed against her in 2023. The 23-year-old woman, along with her parents, has been granted anonymity for safety reasons.
Joseph D. McBride, attorney for the Tate brothers, denied the human trafficking claims, asserting that no evidence supports the accusations and that the truth is on their side.
In Romania, a court recently lifted Andrew Tate’s house arrest order, opting for a less restrictive measure while the criminal investigation continues. Although the initial case against the Tate brothers was dismissed in December, the Bucharest Court of Appeals sent the case back to prosecutors for further action.
In December 2022, they were arrested in Romania on charges including human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized crime group to exploit women. In June 2023, they were formally charged with these offenses. In August 2024, Romanian authorities expanded their investigation to include trafficking minors, sex with a minor, money laundering, and attempting to influence witnesses.
In the UK, the Tate brothers are facing allegations of tax evasion. In December 2024, a British court ruled that they owe over $3 million in unpaid taxes, allowing authorities to seize funds from their accounts.
Recently, a U.S. woman filed a lawsuit against the Tates, accusing them of coercing her into sex work and defaming her after she reported her experiences to Romanian authorities.
In August 2024, Romanian authorities lifted Andrew Tate’s house arrest, opting for a less restrictive measure while the investigation continues.
The Tate brothers have denied all allegations and continue to face legal proceedings in both Romania and the UK.
