Christina Haack Faces 2nd Ex-Husband Ant Anstead on The Flip Off After Bitter Divorce.
Christina Haack is back with another ex-husband on The Flip Off! In a sneak peek aired at the end of Wednesday night’s episode of the HGTV series, the 41-year-old designer revealed the unexpected person she chose as a guest judge for episode 4 next week.
While on the phone with her competitors in the house-flipping showdown, her first husband, Tarek El Moussa, and his wife, Heather, Christina drops the bombshell.
“Have you picked the judge yet?” asks Heather, 37.
Seemingly holding back a laugh, Christina responds, “My second ex-husband… Anthony Anstead.”
Heather gasps, “What?” while Tarek, 43, throws his hands in the air, exclaiming, “Oh my god.” The scene cuts to a preview of Anstead, 45, in action as a judge, where he shows both teams some tough love.
Standing with Christina at the property she’s flipping, Anstead, a British-born TV presenter and master mechanic, points out the flaws. “The small details in here are really driving me crazy,” he says. When Christina questions what he means, Anstead points to a corner of the room, saying, “The paint is missing in the corner there. That isn’t finished correctly.”

- Christina Haack invites her second husband, Ant Anstead, to be a guest judge on The Flip Off for the 4th episode.
- A sneak preview of Anstead’s tough judging airs on Feb. 12 during episode 3, marking the exes’ first reunion on TV.
- Christina and Anstead were married from 2018 to 2020 and had a bitter divorce involving their 5-year-old son, Hudson.
- Tarek El Moussa and Heather El Moussa, Christina’s opponents on the show, expressed shock when they learned Anstead would join.
Later, at the El Moussas’ flip house, Anstead criticizes one of Heather’s design choices: “At no point in human existence should anybody put wallpaper on the ceilings,” he declares.
The preview ends with a cliffhanger as Anstead, currently starring in his own home renovation show in the U.K., prepares to give his verdict. “I came in thinking this was about the design, the execution. But actually, this isn’t about houses at all,” Anstead says.
As tension builds, Tarek whispers to Heather, “What’s going on right now?” Meanwhile, Christina gives him a pointed side-eye, leaving the scene to cut off on a dramatic note.
They were shocked when they found out Christina had enlisted another ex-husband for the show, especially since they were unaware that Christina and Anstead had even been on speaking terms since their contentious divorce in 2020.
“All of a sudden, they’re besties,” Tarek recalled, surprised to see Anstead and Christina interacting so amicably on set. Heather admitted that the situation “really threw us off” because they had thought Christina and Ant “weren’t talking.” The couple was especially caught off guard when Christina started following Anstead on Instagram. “It really was like that for us,” Heather said. “We were like, ‘What? What’s going on?’ We even texted her, ‘Why are you following Ant? What’s going on?’”
Christina, with a sly grin, admitted, “I feel like some of [the judges] that I picked were just to mess with him. It worked.”
Fans first got a hint that Anstead might appear on the show when Christina joked about replacing her estranged third husband, Josh Hall, with her second husband after his unexpected departure. Josh, who was initially set to be Christina’s teammate on the competition show, filed for divorce in July 2024.
Christina and Anstead, who were married in December 2018, went through a turbulent divorce, announced in September 2020, and finalized in June 2021. Despite a heated custody battle over their 5-year-old son, Hudson, the two have since reconciled. Christina stated in August that it was important for Hudson to see them get along, saying, “He deserves to have us get along.”
Christina is now dating businessman Christopher Larocca, while Anstead is in a relationship with Oscar-winning actress Renée Zellweger.
The Flip Off airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on HGTV.
