LOUISVILLE (KY)–Stites & Harbison PLLC is pleased to welcome Scot A.Duvall to its Louisville, Ky. office. As a Partner (Member) in the Intellectual Property & Technology Service Group, he joins the firm.

Duvall has over 25 years experience in trademark and intellectual-property law. He represented Top Fortune 500 companies. He works directly with CEOs, general counsel, vice presidents of marketing, and business owners. He represents clients in trademarks and trademark registration, brand development, clearance, licensing and contracting, due diligence, IP-related aspects business transfer and franchise agreements, and other IP-related matters. He is also able to handle pre-litigation issues, litigation and appeals before the Trademark Trial & Appeal Board as well as the federal courts.

Duvall is a thought leader in trademark policy and law outside of the firm. He has years of experience working with the International Trademark Association (INTA) which has given him a solid foundation. Duvall has been a member of several committees that drafted and commentated on federal trademark legislation. He also filed “friend-of-the court” briefs in important cases. He was the principal drafter for the federal Trademark Dilution Revision Act, which was signed into law in 2006. It established a national standard for trademark protection. He is currently a member the INTA’s Trademark Office Practices Committee.
