Nicolas Cage’s Ex Sues Son Weston for Assault, Plus Actor for Enabling Alleged Attack.

Nicolas Cage’s ex-partner, Christina Fulton, has filed a lawsuit against their adult son, Weston Coppola Cage, for an alleged assault that took place in April 2024.

Additionally, Fulton is suing Cage himself, accusing him of enabling Weston’s violent behavior despite being aware of his ongoing mental health struggles.

Legal documents seen on February 19, 2025, claim Fulton alleges that Cage failed to intervene in Weston’s mental health issues and played a role in his violent behavior.

Fulton claims that instead of offering support, Cage allegedly enabled Weston’s actions, which ultimately led to the physical altercation between mother and son.

The incident occurred on April 28, 2024, when a verbal dispute between Fulton and Weston reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation.

At the time, Fulton denied reports of an argument but stated that Weston was undergoing a “mental-health crisis” and she was attempting to get him the help he needed.

Arrest and Alleged Assault

Weston, 34, was arrested in July 2024 on charges of assault with a deadly weapon following the altercation. After his arrest, Weston was released on bond. Fulton described herself as being “brutally assaulted” by her son, claiming that Weston caused “severe and life-threatening injuries.”

The injuries included a brain concussion, multiple contusions, dental trauma, a disfiguring eye injury, and psychological trauma such as PTSD.

Fulton further claims that these injuries have required extensive medical care, surgeries, and treatments. The incident allegedly derailed Fulton’s flourishing career as a model and actress, forcing her to cancel filming of a Netflix series, public appearances, and brand promotions.

In her lawsuit, Fulton notes that her Cyclish brand and a multi-million-dollar opportunity were “jeopardized” due to the emotional and physical toll of the assault. She alleges that she was unable to run her business effectively and lived in fear after the attack.

Allegations Against Nicolas Cage

In the lawsuit, Fulton accuses Cage, 61, of enabling Weston’s violent behavior despite knowing about his son’s history of psychological disorders, substance abuse, and violent tendencies.

She claims Cage was well aware of Weston’s past, which included previous assaults, yet failed to intervene or take action to prevent further harm.

Nicholas Cage and Christina Fulton

Fulton further alleges that Cage had bailed Weston out of jail multiple times and even provided financial support, including paying for his condo in downtown Los Angeles.

Fulton argues that Cage’s actions—or lack thereof—led to the assault. The filing states: “Nicolas knew or should have known that Weston posed a serious and imminent danger to others, including Plaintiff, based on his documented history of violent assaults, substance abuse, and mental instability.”

Fulton’s legal team asserts that Cage did not ensure Weston received necessary psychiatric help and failed to provide rules or guidance to address his reckless behavior.

In response to the allegations, Cage’s attorney issued a statement calling Fulton’s claims “absurd and frivolous.” The lawyer pointed out that Weston, now an adult, is responsible for his own actions and that Cage is not in control of his son’s behavior. The statement added: “Mr. Cage does not control Weston’s behavior in any manner and is not responsible for Weston’s alleged assault of his mother.”

Legal Actions and Claims

Christina Fulton’s lawsuit seeks to hold both her son and Cage accountable for the alleged harm. She is suing Weston for assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

She is also suing both Weston and Cage for negligence, as well as for negligent supervision and negligent undertaking in the case of Cage. Fulton is seeking damages for the physical, emotional, and financial harm caused by the incident but has not specified the amount of damages requested.
