Judges Mari D. Parlade, Jennifer L.G. Schwartz and Anna Albertson will be ceremonially sworn into office at an investiture on February 22. 22 February at 2:30 pm. New judges will be ceremonially sworn in during an investiture. The investiture will be live-streamed at https://www.facebook.com/clarkcountycourts.

Mari D. Parlade is a judge who has worked in the legal community for more than 20 years, serving families and children. She was named the Outstanding Children Advocate in 2002 by the University of San Diego School of Law. Her name is also displayed on the Children’s Advocacy Institute’s Wall. She was honored by the Mayor Carolyn Goodman and the Las Vegas City Council in 2019 as the Las Vegas Compassionate Cities awardee for strengthening families. In 2018, she was named Woman to Watch: Legal & Woman Of Faith by Gawad America Nevada because of her commitment to supporting Filipino-American women in Nevada. Judge Parlade is a proud Filipino-Spanish-French-Portuguese-American who has raised three beautiful children with her husband, a U.S. Army disabled veteran.

After graduating from Boyd College, Judge Schwartz worked as an attorney for Judge Michael Cherry at District Court 17. He then went on to work in a civil practice law firm. Judge Schwartz worked as an attorney in the Clark County Public Defender’s Office for 18 years before being elected to District Court 17. Schwartz, the granddaughter of Holocaust survivors and a WWII Veteran, is a first-generation U.S. citizen. Dr. Robert Goldman and Nancy Goldman were her parents. She is a Valley High School grad. After graduating from the University of Arizona she returned to Las Vegas to study at UNLV’s Boyd School of Law.

Before being elected to Clark County District Court Department 11, Judge Anna Albertson was a court-appointed short court judge, truancy judge, arbitrator and mediator. Judge Albertson was also a successful entrepreneur and owner of her own law office. She has managed a successful law office and tried more than 50 cases to verdict. In addition, she represents over 1,000 clients, including large corporations and local businesses. Judge Albertson is a regular speaker at biennial trainings for short-trial judges and arbitrators. Other attorneys and law firms managers have sought her out to provide expert legal opinions, train trial lawyers, and serve as a consultant in the field of trial law. She is one of only 25 attorneys in Nevada who has passed the written and oral test required to become a specialist in personal injuries law. Judge Albertson, when she is not working, is involved in numerous chambers and charities, as well as a women’s group that she founded. She enjoys spending time with her family, including her daughter and husband.

District Court Chief Judge Jerry Wiese said, “We welcome these new judge to the District Court.” “They’ve been very busy handling cases. They are joining the court during an exciting time when we provide many services to the community.
