Stanford, CA, April 18, 2023: The CodeX Center, Stanford University, is pleased to announce that Harry Surden has been appointed as Associate Director. Harry Surden is a renowned legal scholar and professor. Surden will continue his full-time job as Professor of Law, University of Colorado Law School, where he is a respected authority on legal technology, artificial intelligence, and law. Surden, who has deep roots at Colorado Law and is a Non-Resident Assistant Director, will continue to work there as Professor of Law. He will not join the Stanford Law School Faculty.

Surden’s appointment to the position of Associate Director is a reflection of the CodeX Center’s commitment to advance the frontiers in legal technology, and foster interdisciplinary cooperation. Surden was a professional software engineer who worked for Bloomberg and Cisco before entering the law. Surden’s expertise in artificial intelligent, legal informatics and legal automation is crucial to the Center’s mission of developing cutting-edge technology in the legal profession.

Surden’s new role of Associate Director will see him working closely with CodeX Center researchers, engineers and legal professionals in order to create and implement innovative legal technology projects.
