RALEIGH NC – The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will honor Mike McIntyre’s 40 years of public service and exemplary leadership with an honorary Doctor of Laws at the Spring Commencement Ceremony on May 14.

McIntyre is described as a “true servant-leader” in a UNC press release. His career achievements include advocating for marginalized and rural communities, reforming agricultural policies, fighting to get federal recognition for Lumbee Tribe and authoring legislation that helped distressed communities in southeastern United States. He also helps our state with funding for military bases and protecting our coast.
