Applications for the Undergraduate Fellowship at The Berkeley Institute for Jewish Law and Israel Studies are invited
Berkeley Institute invites undergraduate students from UC Berkeley to apply for the BIJLIS Ungraduate Fellowship. Undergraduate Fellows have the chance to participate in the Institute’s academic engagement, professional development and community outreach. Fellows are eligible for a fellowship position for one year, with the possibility of being extended. Fellows also receive $500 per semester.
Information about the Institute
Two core programs are housed at the Institute: The Program on Jewish Law, Thought, and Identity andThe Program on Israel Studies. The Institute’s programs encourage faculty and student engagement through the development of research, programming and mentorship opportunities; by bringing visiting scholars and faculty to UC Berkeley; by organizing colloquia and classes to strengthen academic inquiry, discourse, and discourse on the Berkeley campus.
Responsibilities & Tasks
This fellowship is made up of three components: Mentorship, Professional Development and Academic Engagement.
Academic Engagementspan styling=”font-weight 400 ;”>: Fellows have the chance to discuss current issues in Jewish and Israel Studies, from an academic perspective. Berkeley Institute Fellows will be able to interact with lecturers, professors and researchers in a variety of contexts and collaborate with the Institute on student-focused academic programming.
Professional developmentspan styling=”font-weight 400 ;”>: Students create individualized plans to grow their careers. Fellows learn skills in event production, digital marketing, public speaking and program administration. Fellows create their own experiences based on their interests and attend four skill-building workshops over the course of the year.
Mentorshipspan styling=”font-weight 400 ;”>: Mentorship provides students with guidance and support in achieving their post-college goals and in their academic pursuits. Every fellow will have a mentor from the past and a mentor from the new academic year.
