RALEIGH (NC)- In February 2021, North Carolina State Bar presented attorney Mike McIntyre the John B. McMillian Distinguished Service Award. This award recognizes his outstanding service to the legal profession.
The pandemic delayed the formal presentation of this award. The award was presented in person by Josh Malcolm, 16B Judicial District State Bar Councilor and Marci Armstrong, State Bar President, at Lumberton’s Pine Crest Country Club, Robeson County, Mike’s home county.
The State Bar presented the award during the Buck Harris Dinner, which was chaired and sponsored by Danny Britt by the Robeson County Bar Association. Joe Osman (Assistant District Attorney) was sworn into office as the new Robeson County Bar president immediately before the presentation.
Malcolm continued the President’s remarks with a description of Mike’s 41-year-long career that included impressive achievements and involvement at multiple levels, from the local community to Congressional representation. Notable distinctions include the Distinguished Law Alumni Award at UNC, the Liberty Bell Award to strengthen freedom under the laws, the Distinguished Public Service Award of the NC Bar Association, the Lawyer of the Year Award by Lawyers Weekly and the Outstanding Public Service Award of the Secretary of the Navy.
After giving his address, President Armstrong continued celebrations by presenting Mike the John B. McMillian Outstanding Service Award, State Bar’s sole award. His sons Joshua and Steven, both attorneys, and Angelica, his daughter-in law, were present when the award was presented.
Ward and Smith’s Senior Advisor for Government Relations and Economic Development is Mike. His professional experience includes business, entertainment, law, sports, and energy.
Mike is based at the Raleigh office of the firm and works for clients throughout Washington, DC and the state.
