RICHMOND (VA)–Craig Penny is now an attorney in Baker Donelson’s Health Law Group. He was previously general counsel to a national developer for senior living and long-term care facilities.

Mr. Penny represents long-term care, senior living and hospitality operators as well as lenders and investors in transactions that involve finance, development, construction acquisitions leasing and corporate ventures.

Roanoke, Virginia-based Smith/Packett Med-Com, LLC, Penny was responsible for providing outside and in-house counsel to more than $200,000,000 annually in new facility construction transactions. He provided legal and business advice on construction, debt, equity markets, finance and corporate structure, as well as contract law. He was also responsible for negotiations regarding acquisitions and divestitures, managed commercial real property closings, and provided counsel on matters relating to zoning, land usage, construction litigation, contract disputes, and other issues. He has nearly 20 years of experience in law and spent six years working as a private practitioner, dealing with a variety of business and real estate matters.

He graduated from Villanova University School of Law and served as a judicial intern at the Honorable William H. Lamb of Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the Honorable Arnold New of Philadelphia’s Court of Common Pleas, and the Honorable John T.J. Kelly, Jr. of Pennsylvania’s Superior Court of Pennsylvania.
