The Nevada Supreme Court seeks to fill a vacancy on the Board of Indigent Defense Services for a term expiring in April 2025.
A successful applicant must have significant experience providing legal representation to indigent persons in criminal or juvenile justice, demonstrated commitment to providing effective legal representation to indigent persons, or expertise or experience qualifying the person to contribute to the board’s purpose. NRS 180.300(3).
An applicant cannot be currently serving or employed as a judge, legislator, or other state officer or employee, prosecutor, law enforcement officer, or attorney who would financially benefit from the policies adopted by the board. NRS 180.300(4). Further, an applicant cannot be employed within the Department of Indigent Defense Services, by a public defender, or by an attorney providing indigent defense services pursuant to a contract with a county. NRS 180.300(5).
