Freshfields, Bruckhaus & Deringer is expanding its U.S. corporate practice by hiring two New York lawyers. Jacqueline Marino, formerly of Davis Polk & Wardwell, joins as a capital markets partner, while Joshua Ayal, previously a partner at Kirkland & Ellis, joins as an M&A partner.
Unlike many of its international counterparts, Freshfields has successfully established a strong presence in M&A and corporate work in the U.S. through strategic lateral hiring.
“I’ve had the opportunity to work both alongside and opposite Josh, and have seen first-hand both his technical ability and his incredible commitment to client service,” said Damien Zoubek, Co-Head of US Corporate and M&A at Freshfields. “Josh is a great addition to our expanding market-leading M&A team and we are thrilled that he has joined us.”
The recent additions to the team demonstrate the firm’s ongoing commitment to recruitment, extending into 2024.
Freshfields holds eight global Band 1 rankings from Chambers across antitrust, corporate/M&A, litigation, international arbitration, employee benefits, tax, public international law, and crisis management.
