RICHMOND (VA)–The Virginia law firm Gentry Locke is happy to announce that Melissa E. O’Boyle, a former federal prosecutor, has become a partner in the Criminal & Government Investigations group.

O’Boyle spent more than 15 years in the Eastern District of Virginia as an Assistant United States Attorney. He investigated and prosecuted a wide range of criminal cases and coordinated relationships with law enforcement agencies and regulatory partners.

She was most recently the chief of criminal prosecutions at Norfolk’s Criminal Division. There, she managed 19 federal prosecutors, as well as the white-collar unit that authorized and managed fraud, public corruption and securities investigations.

O’Boyle is a member the Criminal & Government Investigations Practice. She will assist clients in ensuring compliance with increased regulatory oversight across a range of industries, including insurance, healthcare and government contracting. Her vast experience as a federal white collar prosecutor will be used to assist individuals and corporations in civil and criminal enforcement actions. She will also conduct internal investigations to provide business strategic counsel.

O’Boyle earned her J.D. O’Boyle received her J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law and a B.A. Capital University, Ohio
