Judge Rebecca Burton will be retiring in January after 30 years of family law practice. After eight years of service, Judge Burton has resigned from the District Court Family Division. This includes serving as the presiding Family Division Judge and the court Executive Committee.

Judge Burton, the chief justice of Nevada’s Supreme Court and the chief judge at the Eighth Judicial District Court wrote to the governor: “For thirty years, I have been devoted family law. Actively striving to serve children, litigants, and the community.”

Judge Burton was a family lawyer for 22 years. She also served as a pro-tem domestic violence commissioner at the Eighth Judicial District Court. She was also a mentor and served on several committees that improved the justice system in the community.
