Murray Rix was established in 1994. He has been involved in several high-profile projects and had 16 permanent staff members in London and northern England. The Etihad Stadium and Trafford Centre, as well as the Liverpool cruise ship terminal and London’s Canary Wharf, have been some of the past projects. It also has its own UKAS-accredited laboratory, which it uses to test construction materials, soils and aggregates.
Owain Davies joined the firm ten years ago and the MBO allows Steve Hutchings, the current managing director, to take control. He will keep a share and support the firm’s long-term growth plans.
Wrigley Claydon provided legal counsel to the MBO team, with Shan Shahriar and partner John Porter leading the transaction. North Ainley acted as the legal advisor for the vendors, along with Val Stocker, a partner.
