Prince Harry recently addressed the ongoing speculation about his relationship with wife Meghan Markle during an appearance at The New York Times’ DealBook Summit. The couple, who married in 2018, have faced intense media scrutiny since stepping down from their royal duties in 2020. In his conversation with Andrew Ross Sorkin, Harry opened up about the divorce rumors and how he navigates public attention. Despite the speculation, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex continue to demonstrate their strong partnership, supporting each other’s charitable initiatives and family life. Here’s a closer look at Harry’s comments and their relationship.

Navigating Public Scrutiny

During a conversation with DealBook founder and Times columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin, Prince Harry addressed the constant media coverage about his relationship with Meghan. Sorkin pointed out how the couple’s independent public appearances have sparked further speculation, with tabloids often suggesting that the couple is drifting apart or even divorced. Harry responded candidly, acknowledging that such stories are far from the truth.

“The media speculation is definitely not a good thing,” Harry said, reflecting on the numerous divorce rumors that have circulated over the years. “We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So, it’s just like, what?” Despite the relentless coverage, Harry emphasized the importance of ignoring the rumors, focusing instead on what truly matters—his family and their work together.

“It’s hard to keep up with, but that’s why you just sort of ignore it, the people I feel most sorry about are the trolls. Their hopes are just built and built, … and then it doesn’t happen. So, I feel sorry for them.” Prince Harry added.

Solidarity in Public and Private

Harry and Meghan have continuously demonstrated their unwavering solidarity, both publicly and privately. Despite facing intense scrutiny, they continue to support each other’s charitable endeavors. In May, they visited a school in Nigeria to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Harry’s Invictus Games, further showcasing their commitment to their causes. Just two months later, Meghan surprised many by attending the ESPY Awards in support of Harry, where he received the prestigious Pat Tillman Award for Service.

Meghan’s Tribute to Harry’s Support

Earlier this year, Meghan expressed her deep gratitude for Harry’s support, particularly in balancing their family life and careers. Speaking at the SXSW festival in March, the Duchess of Sussex praised her husband’s role as a dedicated father and partner. “I’m fortunate in that amongst the privileges that I have in my life, I have an incredible partner,” she shared. “My husband is such a hands-on dad and such a supporter of me and our family, and that I don’t take for granted.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle began dating in the summer of 2016. They were introduced by a mutual friend, and their relationship quickly blossomed. They kept their romance private at first, but by late 2016, rumors about their relationship began to surface. They made their first public appearance as a couple in September 2017, when they attended the Invictus Games in Toronto. Their relationship progressed rapidly, and they became engaged in November 2017. The couple married in May 2018 at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
