Rebel Wilson Files Theft, Bullying and Sexual Misconduct Lawsuit.
The team behind Rebel Wilson’s film ‘The Deb’ first launched a defamation lawsuit against her on July 12, following her public claims of “bad behavior” on their part.
Rebel Wilson is responding to the producers of her directorial debut, The Deb, just months after they initiated a defamation lawsuit against her. On September 26, Wilson’s legal team filed a countersuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court against producers Amanda Ghost, Gregor Cameron, Vince Holden, and several production companies linked to The Deb. The suit accuses the three producers of engaging in a disturbing pattern of serious misconduct on set, including theft, bullying, and sexual harassment.
In the legal documents, Wilson’s attorney claims that the producers wrongfully took $900,000 in Australian funds from the film’s budget, pressured her into signing contracts under duress, and that Ghost harassed the lead actress of The Deb, leading to significant distress for her. Wilson also stated that since October 2023, she has faced intimidation and bullying from the three producers in an effort to silence her.
Actress Charlotte MacInnes, who stars in The Deb, released a statement in September saying “there is no truth to the allegations,” calling the narrative “fabricated.”

On July 12, Ghost, Gregor, and Holden launched a defamation lawsuit against Wilson in Los Angeles. This action followed Wilson’s claims in a July 10 Instagram video, where he accused them of trying to block the film’s world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and labeled their behavior on set as “bad.” In their lawsuit, the producers alleged that Wilson was seeking co-writing credit and rights to the original music of The Deb. They also stated that he attempted to pull the film from TIFF due to various credit and licensing conflicts that he had initiated.
This was a spiteful effort to tarnish the producers’ reputations with statements she knew were clearly untrue, they claimed in the complaint filed on July 12. Wilson referred to the lawsuit as “nonsense” in a separate Instagram post made on the same day.
Wilson’s countersuit was submitted just two days before her wedding to partner Ramona Agruma in a picturesque destination ceremony in Sardinia, Italy, on Saturday, September 28. The couple went public with their relationship in June 2022 and got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2023. They are parents to Wilson’s daughter, Royce Lillian, who was born via surrogate in November 2022.
The Deb had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
