FORT WORTH (TX)–Attorney Ty Stimpson is a partner in Varghese Summersett Injury Law Group and the recipient of 2023 Dr. Marion J. Brooks Legend in Making Award for Law. This prestigious award honors civic leaders in Tarrant County who are making a mark in their community.
Stimpson, along with five other award winners, was recognized at the Palmwood Event Center downtown Fort Worth on Friday 17th June at the 29th annual Dr. Marion J. Brooks Living Legends Award ceremony. The Beta Tau Lambda Charitable Foundation, along with the Beta Tau Lambda Chapter Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, presented the awards to honor leaders in Tarrant County who have demonstrated excellence and service within their profession.
Stimpson stated during his acceptance speech that “I work every day to serve the community, my clients and my family. To be honored for this truly means a great deal.” Stimpson said, “To be seated in the same room as so many esteemed civic leaders and community members is an honor in itself.”
The event, named after the legendary Dr. Marion J. Brooks in honor of Tarrant County’s community members who have made significant contributions to the county across a variety of fields, celebrates the achievements and contributions of those individuals. The “Living Legends” awards recognize deserving individuals who are 65 years old and older and have achieved excellence throughout their lifetime. They have also earned legend status. The “Legend in Making” awards honor young professionals on the rise.
The honorees for the 2023 Living Legends are Dr. Barbara Odom Wesley (Health Education), Dr. John L. Barnett Jr., (Medicine and Philanthropy), and Dr. Arlene Barnett, (Medicine and Philanthropy).
Kandice Boutte, Crystal Brown and Ty Stimpson were the 2023 Legend in the Making awardees.
Stimpson, a highly respected trial lawyer who leads Varghese-Summerssett Injury Group, combines his passions for law and helping people whose lives have been shattered by no fault of theirs. He works to bring justice to victims who were wrongfully injured or murdered and ensures that their voices and rights are heard.
Stimpson’s passion for service extends beyond the legal field. He is dedicated to serving others. He has served on many boards, committees and task forces and made significant contributions to North Texas.
Benson Varghese is the managing partner at Varghese Sommersett. He said, “When Ty’s not working or in court, you can find him in his community giving back to the community in whatever way he is able.” “He is a true servant leader and I can’t think of anyone else more deserving to receive the Legend in the Making award.”
Stimpson, in his acceptance speech thanked both his wife Jordan and his mother Linda for their sacrifices, contributions and support. Stimpson then gave a final charge to the audience.
Stimpson stated, “Let us push each other forward to reach new heights and excel as individuals and a community.” Stimpson said, “Let’s always do the right thing and stand up for what’s right. Especially when it gets hard. That is when we need to be doing what is right.”
“Know you’re making a difference. You are stewards to your ancestors, and they will be proud of you. “Being a leader can be difficult, but is essential work. We are all in the trenches with you.”
